As we move towards the next year in the techade, it becomes imminent to acknowledge the contribution of women entrepreneurs in technology towards better innovation and increased economic gains. Women constitute around 14% of the total entrepreneurship in India and we are seeing these numbers growing at a fast pace even in the burgeoning technology industry. The MeitY – NASSCOM Startup Women Entrepreneur Awards 2020-21 for software products, in partnership with UN Women, are here once again to recognize and celebrate the technical prowess of women entrepreneurs in India.

Award Categories

  1. Disruptive Marketer of the Year - Founder who has developed a unique business outreach model and has made remarkable progress using innovative ideas.
  2. Iconic Women Personality of the Year - The creator of a new market that didn't exist before.
  3. Emerging Startup - Businesses and organizations that are in the very early stages of development, i.e. businesses that have been in existence for 3 Years or less at the closing date for entries.
  4. Startup of the Year – Emerging Tech - Best Tech Startup (Artificial Intelligence / IOT / Virtual Reality / Blockchain etc.)
  5. Startup of the Year – Sectoral - Best Startups in Specific Sectors (Agritech/ Healthcare / Edutech /Rural Governance/ Clean Energy/ Water/ Environment)
  6. Startup Of the year - Social Impact Startup towards achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) –Startups penetrating deeply for impacting the most disadvantaged or underprivileged section of society with focus on SDGs on Poverty Reduction, on Gender Equality and on Promoting Decent Work and Economic Growth

 

Note: Each applicant can apply for one or multiple categories to a maximum of 3

 

Winner Rewards

·       Rs. 2 lakhs cash reward per category 

·       Recognition and increased awareness of startup in the industry

·       Market access through enterprise connects and other sources in the ecosystem 


Evaluation Criteria

 

Product Excellence
Evaluated based on product's relevance, its emphasis on innovation and differentiating factor along with value it can create for consumers.
Business Excellence
Evaluated based on operating model, milestones achieved and growth trajectory along with co-founders' credibility and attractiveness to investors.
Market Excellence
Evaluated based on product's market approach, competitiveness, opportunity and market outlook.
Technology Excellence
Evaluated based on the use of technology and resource mix.


ELIGIBILTY

Qualifying Criteria

a) The women Entrepreneur (applicant)

  • Should be a Founder or Co-Founder
  • Should be a majority stake holder (at least 33% of founders equity)
  • Should be actively running the business

b) Startups:

  • The startup should be registered in India / DPIIT registered
  • Should qualify the definition of startup (DPIIT guidelines)
  • Must have 51% or more shareholding with Indian citizen or person of Indian origin. The applicant’s entity should not be a subsidiary company of any foreign corporation.

Must be registered on Indian Software Products Registry (www.ispr.gov.in)


Terms and conditions     

1.         Only companies, firms or businesses registered, based in India can apply

2.         Each applicant can apply for one or multiple categories to a maximum of 3. In case the applicant qualifies for more than 1 category for the final round, they will be allowed to move forward only in the category in which they have scored the highest.

3.         By submitting the application, the applicant has indicated consent to the Award’s rules and regulations. The Jury and the WEA Steering Committee have the right to reject or disqualify applicant entry, if the entry does not comply with any of the Award’s rules and regulations.

4.         MeitY and NASSCOM reserve the right to amend the Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.

5.         Participants shall ensure all information provided is true, complete and accurate.

6.         Applicants with more than 1 registered business should submit financial statements of all companies which they are registered shareholders for consideration.

7.         Applicants must be the owner-manager primarily responsible for the recent performance of a privately held India based company or a founder of a listed Indian based company who is still active in senior management.

8.         Failure to meet any of the deadlines will result in disqualification.

9.         MeitY and NASSCOM shall not be responsible and liable for the loss of any award-related documents or materials.

10.       The decisions of the jury are final and binding.

11.       All proposals and supporting documents are non-returnable and will be kept strictly confidential.

12.       Award Winners can use the Award logos, certificate for promotional or publicity purposes, on the condition that no modification is made, and shall be represented in a proper manner in accordance to the identity of the award, and subjected to the approval of the competent authority in MeitY and NASSCOM.

13.       MeitY and NASSCOM reserve the right to use the award as well as the names and/or companies of the Winners for promotional or publicity purposes either directly or indirectly.

14.       Participants will provide and maintain an active email address throughout the Awards to receive all communications from the Award Steering Committee.

15.       The parameters for evaluation are subject to revision by the internal and external juries and Awards steering committee

16.       WEA Steering Committee has the right to ask for proof of information provided / audit the information provided in the entry form. If such a request is made and the participant does not agree, the participant could be disqualified from participation at the Awards.

17.       If, after the conclusion of the Award ceremony, any information provided by any participant is found to be incorrect in any manner, the participant will be liable to return the Award and any monetary / non-monetary incentives provided as part of the Award

18.       Determination of whether information is incorrect or not rests with Awards steering committee.
